The grape for this wine is known locally as Chiavennasca, but more generally it is recognised as Nebbiolo. However, unlike the Piemontese counterparts, Nebbiolo from this mountainous area is delicate and perfumed – less tannic, and with glacial purity.
Mameti Prevostini inherited this winert from his grandfather, and spent several years experimanting woith winemaking techniques before he was satisfied with the result. Wines were noit commerciallly released from this estate until 1995, despite a history of winemaking dating back 70 years. he has gradually been growing a reputation not only for his own wines but within the Valtellina region in general.
this wine has been made from grpes harvested from several vineyards within the hills around the area of Sondrio has low fertility and it is rocky and glacial. the wine is made conventionally.
